Incorporating Black Into Your Wedding Theme

Black is deep, dark, sexy and sophisticated. So why wouldn't you want to incorporate it into your wedding? However, too much black can be intimidating and have an overwhelming effect rather than a dramatic one. So unless that's the outcome you're going for, here's some great ideas for incorporating black into your wedding.

Black wedding dresses are anything but traditional, and can be stunning when worn correctly. As with any wedding gown, whether it's white or ivory, the dress should not be surpassed by any other accessories. A simple hairstyle along with minimal makeup and jewelry is all you need - remember, less is more. However, just as the dress is daring, don't be afraid to go for one bold move such as a scarlet red lipstick or fingernails, or a striking pair of earrings.

Almost as popular as the dress, the wedding cake is the focal point of the reception. Black wedding cakes can be as beautiful as they are delicious! Talk to your baker about creating a one of a kind wedding cake that fits your theme.

If a black wedding gown or cake is a little too much for your taste, remember you can add the hue in much simpler doses. Toss a couple of black roses or calla lilies into the bouquets, or choose a color scheme that has black accents. A black and white wedding theme is incredibly popular and can be complimented with an elegant damask pattern. For a bit more color, consider an also popular pink and black wedding theme.
