The Christmas season brings alive a childlike anticipation in many people, whether they are young or old. Christmas is a magical, meaningful time, not only do Christians celebrate the birth of their savior, but it is a time when friends and family gather to make memories. A Christmas inspired wedding incorporates the splendor of the winter season and also brings the warmth of the holiday to all aspects of the day. With Christmas so popular in many retail stores, brides are not limited by traditional wedding vendors, as they can complete much of their shopping in non-traditional methods. Here are some ideas to bring the beauty of Christmas to your wedding.

The Ceremony

Decorating your ceremony location for a Christmas theme can be easy. If you are holding the ceremony in a church, most likely their altar flowers will coordinate with the season. Check with your priest or minister, to find out what decorations the location will have on display that day, many will have trees and/or wreaths decorating the church. For pew bows, pick colors of the season – red, white, green. Have your flower girl toss red, white or green leaves, or a combination of the colors. Dress up your unity candle ceremony with red tapers, a red candle, or a white candle with red and green accents. Alternatively, you can perform a sand unity ceremony with the season’s colors.

The Reception

Think of your reception location as a giant room in your home that you are decorating for Christmas. Table linens can be in the traditional Christmas colors, and accents can either be in your choice of gold or silver – or even both, remember the song silver and gold?

Centerpieces can be fun to design! You can have mini trees all decorated – ornaments included. Put under the tree your favors – wrapped as mini presents. You could do a traditional floral arrangement with reds and greens as well. Or fill a bowl or vase with ornaments in reds and greens. Another idea is to create a village – one piece on each table, with lights and animation. Tape a small present box under one chair at each table to see who gets to take the centerpiece home with them.

Your wedding cake could be in the shape of presents, or could be the traditional white cake with red and green accents. Your signature drinks of the evening – white, cranberry and green apple martinis!

Christmas Wedding Favors

If you would like to give a more standard winter wedding favors which will appeal to everyone, give out snowflake inspired wedding favors, which will be used by everyone no matter which holiday they celebrate.
