Over the past several years, destination weddings
have become increasingly popular for various reasons. Not only are you celebrating the big day with your closest family and friends, but the celebration is extended to a few days. You're also spending your honeymoon in the same romantic place. Destination weddings are also perfect for the couple who yearns for a more intimate affair. You can still invite those 250+ guests, but chances are only a small percentage of those invited will actually be able to attend. So in some instances, destination weddings also cut down on the traditional wedding costs too. As the couple, you're able to choose the perfect setting for your nuptials, whether it's a romantic seaside getaway, a cruise, or a fun-filled trip to Las Vegas; and as a guest, you're able to take a little vacation while celebrating the love of someone you're close with. These weddings are extra exciting for all who attend!Destination wedding favors
can be tricky to shop for. It's unfortunate to say that a number of the most popular wedding favors will have to be quickly crossed off your list because you're unable to travel with them. The reason could be they're too heavy or large for your luggage, or perhaps you can't bring certain items, such as confections, to the destination you're traveling to. Here are some "don'ts" to pay attention to when shopping for your destination favors:
- Anything that melts. That means any chocolate, some candy, and even a number of candle favors will likely be eliminated from your potential wedding favor ideas. Even if you're not traveling to a warm climate, cargo holding areas at airports can be quite hot.
- Fragile items. Luggage is often handled in a careless, rough manner, so glassware, like our personalized stemless wine glasses, should also be avoided as destination wedding favors.
- Heavy merchandise. Your favors will likely be packaged in a separate parcel anyway, but you'll be looking at astronomical costs to check the bag if it weighs too much. Plus, you, your groom, and attendants won't want to be bothered with heavy lifting.
With that being said, the key to destination wedding favor ideas is to think lightweight. Luckily, a number of our wedding favors are just that, and practical too! Luggage tags are an especially popular choice, because they're not heavy and also packaged sleekly enough to fit a large amount in a suitcase. Plus, they stick to the destination/travel theme. Wedding bookmarks, wine charms, lip balms, and some of our bottle opener favors are also light in weight, to name a few others. We also recommend any of our drink mixes if you are able to travel with them. You may also want to consider sticking with the travel theme and opt for sewing or manicure kits, or miniature soaps.
