What is a Honey Do List?

What is a Honey Do List? You've got the nest, you've officially tied the knot, so what's next? Now that the two of you are a Mr. & Mrs., you're expected to do many tasks as a team - and that includes household chores! Whether it's cleaning the bathroom, doing the dishes, folding the laundry or fixing that pesky, constant "drip drip" of the sink, things need to get done! A great way of dividing up the tasks is to organize a honey do list.

A honey do list is simply a list of chores for you and your beau to attend to. You can divide up the list of chores between the two of you, or assign the chores according to whoever is best to tackle the task (i.e., if your husband is a handyman, maybe he should be the one tending to all the repairs. Or if you have a green thumb, you can weed the yard).

To avoid the list becoming too extensive, try to set time limits for each task. For example, sweeping or mowing the lawn should be done weekly, but checking your smoke detectors should be done twice a year. As said before, the purpose of a honey do list is to not only make sure that these things get taken care of, but to divide up the work so one of you doesn't feel like you're doing all the work. Since the trash should be taken out every day, perhaps the two of you should alternate the task every other day or week.

A honey do list is a great way to keep your house spic and span and ensure everything is in order. It also another way to help you and your spouse do things together and avoid minor arguments regarding the household chores.

A fun idea is to incorporate the honey do list as a bridal shower game: you can create your very own honey do lists and hand them out to your guests. Simply make a list of tasks and have your guests choose who they think would be most eligible to complete it: the bride or the groom. The couple themselves can fill out one themselves, and whichever guest has the most matches wins!
