For the do-it-yourself bride who wants her favors to be truly one of a kind and practical too, the perfect solution is making your very own bookmarks! The world of bookmarks includes so many different styles and designs, so there's a number of unique ways to create your very own
bookmark favors. So if you're wondering
how to make your own bookmarks, you'll find out how to here.
Paper Bookmarks - If you're computer savvy, simply create your very own template at home on your laptop, print out the bookmarks on a sheet, and cut them out (think about 2 inches wide by 6 inches long). Or, if you have neat hand writing and are extremely creative, just hand-decorate them yourself! You can even laminate them yourself by visiting your local craft or superstore and purchasing a laminator. Finally, punch a hole at the top and knot a satin ribbon or tassel so your guests can easily find their page.
Below are steps for making the two easiest and common hand-made
bookmark favors.
Beaded Bookmarks - Take a trip to the craft store, because you'll need a wire cutter, needle nose pliers, any colored wire (preferably 18-gauge), some glass beads and a small dowel (optional). Cut about 25 inches of wire using the cutter, and then use the pliers to bend over one end for the bottom. Then, slide the beads and shape the wire as desired as you work (bending and swirling creates the nicest effect). Once you're finished, bend the top of the wire or wrap it around the dowel where you'll want the top beads. After you place the final beads on, shape the end into a spiral so they stay in place.
**For a more simple and easier alternative, purchase a slightly higher gauge of wire and cut about 6 inches. Bend it at the middle so the wire is at a 90 degree angle, then use pliers to roll each end under and form a heart. Your guests will be able to mark their spot by hooking the top of the heart over the page. If you're really creative, make your own designs!
Use your imagination to think up some more ideas for your bookmark favors. Use fabric or ribbon rubber-cemented on card stock and hole punched with a ribbon for a similar paper bookmark, or if you can sew, create your very own! Use supplies such as ribbon, buckles, yarn and much more to come up with your very own bookmark
wedding favors.
