How To Plan An Engagement Party
Some may consider the engagement party a dying tradition; others see it as a trend growing more popular every day. Whatever the case, the engagement party definitely isn't dead. There are tons of couples who look forward to this kick-off wedding event. It is the first get-together thrown in honor of the couple, before the bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette party and of course, the wedding. There are many brides out there asking a million questions about engagement parties. Who? What? Where? When? Why? So, here's some answers!
Who attends an engagement party? Don't invite anyone to the engagement party if they're not going to be invited to the wedding. However, it's safe to go ahead and leave out some wedding guests from the engagement party. Of course, the party is thrown in honor of the bride and the groom, so they will be there as well!
What is an engagement party? The name of the event simply says it all: an engagement party is thrown to honor and celebrate with the newly engaged couple. It's also a great way to start your wedding guest list, since everyone attending will be at the wedding! (See above.)
When is an engagement party thrown? Engagement parties are typically thrown about three months after the proposal, and 6 months - 1 year prior to the wedding. Of course, there is a lot of planning and money to consider, so the party should be thrown whenever it is convenient for the host and the couple.
Where does an engagement party take place? There are absolutely no limits for the location of the engagement party. Venues can range from banquet halls, to five star restaurants, to backyard barbeques.
Why is an engagement party thrown? As said before, the party is in honor of the couple's fresh engagement. It also allows the bride's family to meet the groom's (if they haven't before), and it allows the two families to begin creating bonds.
