One of the more popular wedding accessories
are wedding guest books
and matching pens. Some couples wonder, "Why is a guest book
important?" Your wedding day is one of the biggest events in your life, and one you'll want to remember forever. It is a gathering of your friends and family to celebrate the love between two people, the joining of the two of them, and the unity between their families. It is a day you want to remember and cherish forever. A guest book
allows your guests to write a little message for you, so on your anniversaries or whenever you want to look back on that special day, you can re-live the moments and smile at everyone's happiness for you.
It's unfortunate that nowadays, guests just scribble a quick note in a guest book and walk away. Memos like "Best wishes!" and "Good luck!" are hardly personal or endearing. They're also barely long enough to fill up a guest book. Who wants to keep a book that's half empty? Though a member of your bridal party can urge your guests to sign, or pass it around at dinner when everyone has a moment, there are other ways to make the signing of the guest book more fresh and interesting for your guests.
Wedding wishes books, boxes, jars and even trees are great guest book alternatives
. Instead of trying to find the right words to fill up a page in a book, your guests can just scribble something sweet on a card. Wedding wishes books are full of tiny envelopes instead of blank pages, so you can keep the cards neat. You can also buy a jar or vase to put the cards in. If you're really creative, you can even assemble a wish tree. Your guests can hang their little messages on a branch. Decorate it with pretty crystals and it makes a gorgeous centerpiece to "wow" at when you walk in.
If you're more into keepsakes, perhaps you should consider a signature mat. These are very large picture frames, with a photo window in the middle and metal around it that can be engraved for your guests to sign. Mount the frame on an easel and have your guests sign it with the included engraving pen as they walk in. Signature guest book mats are beautiful, look great hung up in a home, and are definitely the most popular guest book alternative
today. You can also use a platter or vase that can be signed by your guests with a porcelain pen. Though these aren't so great for messages, as they lack the space, they're great for the couple who wants to keep something out in the open on display so they can remember their wedding every time they look at it.
There's nothing wrong with being traditional. Check out our guest books
