You've probably heard the infamous bridal saying:
Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.
It's so popular that many brides have a blue wedding theme just to bring luck to their nuptials. Each item in this sort poem represents a good luck token for the bride – if she carries them, it is said her marriage will have good fortune. Here are a few ways to incorporate it into your wedding.
Something Old: Things you can use for the something old theme are: jewelry from your mother, grandmother or great-grandmother, an old wedding photo from your family, a childhood pillow to hold your rings, a piece of lace sewn into the hem of your gown.
Something New: Your gown or rings symbolize the something new.
Something Borrowed: To borrow happiness make sure you borrow something from a happily married couple, for example your grandparents or cousins.
Something Blue: Blue shoes or blue jewelry are popular choices - but you can even do something fun like blue nail polish! Another way to carry this tradition is to give your guests blue wedding favors.
