Radiant is the perfect way to describe Pantone's 2014 color of the year. It is bright, vibrant and joyful. It contains mixtures of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones. Orchid can be bright, muted, deep or pastel - depending on how you use it, it can be an attention getter or soft and romantic.
This multifaceted hue is described by Pantone as, "seductive when combined with red and pairs well with its sister shades of lavender, purple and pink". These shades work well for weddings: lighter shades of orchid for spring and summer combine well with lavender and pink, whereas darker shades of orchid do well for fall and winter soirees. Combine multiples shades of this for a monochromatic and dramatic look for your wedding.
If you would like complimentary colors rather than a monochromatic look, Pantone suggests, "olive and deeper hunter greens" or even "paired with turquoise, teal and even light yellows." However, if those combinations are too bold and bright for your wedding, Radiant Orchid will "liven up neutrals including gray, beige and taupe" which is perfect for all weddings in 2014.
